Huawei Watch Fit 2 : Workout Mode Ability is Very Good

If you are looking for a fitness tracker that can offer you almost all the features of the Huawei Watch GT3 but at a much cheaper price, then the Huawei Watch Fit 2 would be an excellent choice. It’s a real beast and a great addition to any person’s active lifestyle. Especially if you have a passion for running, cycling or hiking, the Huawei Watch Fit 2 would be an excellent companion.

When it comes to its workout mode ability, the Huawei Watch Fit 2 can do far more than just monitor 91 different workouts. After assessing its features, I have provided it with a rating of 12 out of 15.

  • Intermediate Level : Ability to determine your fitness level, ability to measure training load/intensity, GPS Tracking, ability to improve cadence, AI coach feature
  • Advanced Level : Ability to connect to motion sensors, ability to prepare you for a race, Ability to provide advanced analytics (similar to Polar flow, Garmin Connect), ability to provide specialist features to improve performance. Advanced auto detection (automatically change workout modes based on your motion)

This rating system is something I have come up with based on my experience trying out several different smartwatches. Having given the Huawei Watch Fit 2 a score of 12 out of 15, I believe it deserves to receive this high rating. A fitness tracker rating of 12 out of 15 is an extraordinary score and great value for money.

To best explain it, I’ll first outline what features the Huawei Watch Fit 2 does not have, and then explain what features it does have.

As far as advanced auto detection goes, this is a very useful feature to many swimmers and multi sport athletes. The great thing about this feature is that it can auto detect your motion and then it will automatically change into the appropriate workout mode.

The Watches that I have tested that have this feature is the Apple Watch 7 and after overlooking the Apple Watch 8 and Ultra, the Advanced auto detection is also available with that model.

As for the other 3 features, you will find this in either a Garmin Forerunner or Polar Pacer series. These are the only two watches that I have ever tested that have these 3 features. If that’s something that is of interest to you, then those watches are the only ones that you will need to consider.

2. The Huawei Watch Fit 2 Can Connect To Motion Sensors.

If you are someone that has Bluetooth enabled fitness equipment, like a running pod or a cadence sensor then you are pleased to know that the Huawei Watch Fit 2 is able to connect to these. You have four options which is

  • Huawei S Tag, which is a motion sensor that can track your running and cycling cadence.
  • Heart rate Sensor,
  • Cadence or speed Sensor,
  • Power meter

From a consumer’s point of view, having a fitness tracker that can be connected to multiple devices is a huge benefit as it means that they can monitor their progress and results. The Huawei Watch Fit 2 takes this one step further as it allows all of their stats to be viewed in one place after it has been connected to the fitness tracker.

Intermediate Level Tracking : 5 out of 5

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 is an amazing watch for serious trackers of their fitness. It offers great features for intermediate level fitness tracking, so you can continually monitor and assess your performance, and make any necessary changes. This makes it an excellent option for those who are looking to track their fitness more seriously and are striving to make improvements. Let me discuss each segment in more detail.

1. Huawei Watch Fit 2 Can Track Your Training Load

The great thing about the Huawei Watch Fit 2 is that it has the ability to track your training load or intensity. I personally find this feature very useful because it allows me to determine the type of intensity I am currently working at, so I can see whether I am pushing myself hard enough, or whether I need to up my game.

I also find this feature to be useful in terms of holding you accountable for your training. Not getting enough sleep or having a stressful day at work can both have an impact on your training load score. For all those who like to occasionally go for a run, or those who run on a regular basis, the AI coach can be an interesting option. This set of running courses is suitable for all levels of running. Your training information is then fed into the AI system, which then produces programs that can help you get better at running.

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 is a great device to improve your running efficiency, as it comes with 13 different preset courses that are very similar to what you would find in a Garmin Forerunner or a Polar Pacer. You can also enhance your running experience further by connecting the watch to a Bluetooth sensor, allowing you to take your running performance to the next level.

The great thing about the Huawei Watch Fit 2 is that it can accurately track your fitness level, and it has the ability to do this through two separate methods, which I think is an important factor to consider when choosing a fitness tracker. I will go through each one so you can see why I think this is such an important feature.

V02 Max

The most relable metric to determine your fitness level at an aerobic capacity. What it simply means without all the scientific jargon is a measure of how well your body can utilise oxygen during exercise. As you get fitter, your body becomes more efficient at using oxygen, and your VO2 Max will rise.

If you are a first time user of the Huawei Health app, the V02 max score can use the information you input to accurately determine your V02 max score according to healthy guidelines. Im talking about age, weight, gender etc which can affect your score. However there is a catch, that the V02 max score only works on GPS tracking running workout modes.

Heart Rate Recovery

Once your workout ends, the Watch Fit 2 will ask you if you want to record your heart rate recovery. It’s purely optional, but is available if you want to measure this. So what is heart rate recovery? It’s a measure of how long it takes your heart rate to return to resting rate after exercise.

There is a 2 minute time frame taken and the Watch Fit 2 uses that to calculate your HR recovery. As a rule of thumb, if your heart rate drops by 18bpm or more in 2 minutes, then you are in a healthy range. Anything less, you have some work to do to improve your fitness. Ultimately you want your heart rate to be close to your resting heart rate after the 2 minute period.

The great thing about the Watch Fit 2 is that you can track your heart rate recovery anaerobic such as weightlifting or cross fit programs and aerobic exercises such as running and cycling.

Workout Mode Ability Ranking : Maximum score is 15 3 brands that I know hit the 15 mark rating. Coro and Amazfit watch’s could reach the 15 point mark, but I havent placed them on the list because I have not personally tested them.

As you can see, the Huawei Watch Fit 2 sit’s quite well amongst smart watches as a fitness tracker. In terms of price, the Watch Fit 2 is very affordable and can almost match it with the multi sport device.
