Huawei Band 7 : Smart Feature Ability IS Fairly Good
When it comes to smart features in a smart watch or fitness tracker, it can have advantages. One of the main advantages is that it can provide support for your daily activities. In other words, smart features can help you with your day-to-day activities.
Smart features are an important aspect of any device, and the Huawei Band 7 is no exception. In this article, I will provide you with a detailed review of the Huawei Band 7’s smart features and compare its performance to other watches on the market. I will also explain my methodology for testing watches for smart feature ability. Here is my final results.
Level | Score |
Beginner | 5/5 |
Intermediate | 2/5 |
Advanced | zero |
Final Score | 7/15 |
After reflecting back on my final score, I do think that this is a fair indication of how the Huawei Band 7 sits in the market. There are other smart watch brands that have really excelled in the smart feature field, which I will show you later in this article.
Huawei Band 7 : Perfect Score At Basic Level.
When it comes to basic level smart features, the Huawei Band 7 is a great choice and has a perfect score based on my experience. In order to gain a point in my rating system, the feature must be reliable when tested. Let me go through the criteria that I used for testing watches for smart features.
- Ability to find your phone
- Ability to set alarm or timer
- Ability to reply to messages with preset messages
- Do not disturb ability
As a bare minimum, each and every single watch in the market should have the ability to provide the fundamental features that consumers expect from them. These features are the essential ones that every watch should be capable of performing. That is why I have made it a point to include these features in my testing regime when I am creating a review.
What You Also Need To Know
Each of the features performed exceptionally well during the testing phase; however, it is important to note that the reply to messages feature is not quite on the same level as the Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch.
Unfortunately, the Huawei Band 7 does not offer the ability to reply to a message using a recorded message, query keyboard entry, or dictation. Instead, it only provides preset quick reply messages that are dictated by the watch’s response to the incoming message.
Huawei Band 7 : Scores 2 out of 5 At Intermediate Level
The Huawei Band 7 is a device that is very affordable and has intermediate-level smart features. It is also important to note that during testing, it was very reliable and can be very useful for everyday use. However, it does not have all of the abilities at the intermediate level. In this article, I will share with you how I go about testing the intermediate-level smart features, including what is available and what is not.
Available | Not Available |
Ability to answer phone calls | Ability to lock out water |
Ability to control music | Ability to contact emergency contact |
Ability to make phone calls
Ability to talk back to watch user
Ability to save battery life
Ability to improve time management
Contactless payment |
When reviewing the intermediate-level smart features, there are nine different aspects that I carefully evaluate. By doing so, I hope to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of what smartwatch brands are currently offering. Additionally, I will be comparing the Huawei Band 7 to these brands.
However, it is important to note that the version of the Huawei Band 7 that I am reviewing is specific to New Zealand and may differ from the version that you have. For example, the Huawei Pay feature is not available on my version of the watch.
Important Note
With the features that are available on the Huawei Band 7, I just want to quickly share my experience using these features during my testing. Surprisingly the Band 7 doesn’t have a water lock mode.
First and foremost, the music controller feature is one of my most preferred features. I find it incredibly easy to use and I really appreciate the fact that I am able to control my music playlists, including the volume. Additionally, the Huawei Band 7 offers the ability to playback music from your phone, regardless of whether you are using Spotify or music that has been downloaded to your phone.
Lastly, with regards to answering phone calls, the Huawei Band 7 provides the option to do so either through your phone or through the watch. However, it is important to note that the watch does not have the capability to make phone calls or communicate directly with the caller. This means that when using the Huawei Band 7 to answer phone calls, the user must use their phone to communicate with the caller, rather than the watch.
Huawei Band 7 : Does Not Offer Advanced Smart Features
Unlike other smartwatches, the Huawei Band 7 is not equipped to handle advanced smart features. While it may lack the processing power of its competitors, it still offers impressive capabilities for a watch. Here are some of the advanced features I tested.
- Live stream to devices
- Ability to connect to smart devices
- Ability to provide a magnetic compass
- Ability to measure air pressure
- Ability to use gestures to quick access features
- Smart touch ability(interact with watch for disabled persons)
- Ability to provide assistance (google, Alexa or Bixby)
- Ability to provide direction (similar to google maps, Petal maps)
How Does The Huawei Band 7 Compare In The Market
Since I have remodeled the way I go about testing smart watches for it’s smart feature ability, I had to re test a lot of my watch’s and provide a ranking table. At the moment the Huawei Band 7 is currently sitting in sixth position for now. If smart features is important to you when you purchase your new smart watch I hope this information becomes useful to you. Check out my results in below table.
Does it matter if a device has a low smart feature ability score? In my opinion it’s a no, because there is a negative trade off. The higher the smart feature ability, the more battery life you are going to burn. Where as a device like the Huawei Band 7 that was a lower rating number, you have a better battery life. I personally find it annoying when I have to recharge your watch every day because I want to track my sleep. I found it to be a inconvenience due to battery life,.
Final Conclusion
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have learnt a lot about the Huawei Band 7’s smart feature ability. In terms of it’s smart feature ability I think it provides all the necessary things that help you along in your day to day activities. It may not be at a high level like the Samsung Galaxy Watch series or the Apple watch series, but good enough from a more simplistic perspective.
Any device that sits in the middle tier of my rating system like the 7 to 10 point range is probably the perfect range if some is after a more affordable watch to buy. So far the Fitbit Versa 4 and the Huawei Band 7 sit’s in this theory of mine. Which provides a nice balance between battery life to smart feature ratio. It maybe a new testing number to consider which will unravel it’s strengths and weakness’s.
In the end I hope you got to understand how I arrived at a 7 out of 15 rating for smart features. I still believe it is a fair rating considering what devices are out there in the market today. Once again thank you for reading.
