Holistic health is trending world wide at the moment. It’s no wonder that Samsung has been focusing on this area to provide their users with the best possible experience.
It seems to me that Samsung are trying to create there own identity in regards to holistic health. Apple Watch does this really well. Almost to a point it’s tailor made for this area.

In the spirit of Samsung’s push for a better user experience in holistic health, they’ve announced a new innovation called Health Connect. All of this was built on the new partnership between Google and Samsung.
Working together has allowed them to come up with this new innovation. Health connect will allow users to have have a comprehensive set of controls to manage their health and fitness data across apps.
What is Health Connect?
Health Connect is an Android API and platform that unifies data from multiple devices and apps into one ecosystem. This lets Android developers read and write a user’s health and fitness data using a single interface. For Android users, it offers a place for control over which apps have read and/or write access to different types of data. Health Connect also provides on-device storage.
Health Connect supports more than 50 data types, such as exercise and sleep. It also collects your vitals, like heart rate. To make sure users have complete control over their data, Health Connect provides centralized privacy controls. This way, users can easily give permission to the apps they want to share their on-device data with.
This new service is a massive step towards empowering users to experience the advantages of holistic living. It also cements Samsung’s commitment to provide the best possible experience for their users.

What Devices Will The Health Connect Be Available To
At this stage only Samsung watch’s that are using the operating system wearOS. Therefore only the Galaxy Watch 4 and all future watch’s to be released.
There’s no mention of Samsung looking to port health connect to the Tizen operating system. With new Samsung watch’s to be released this year, it’s more than likely a no go.
Samsung are keen to develop the next generation technology. With this in mind, it’s likely that health connect will eventually be available to devices using the wearOS operating system.
We will have to wait and see.

While there is no release date mentioned yet, we can expect this new feature to be released sometime this year.

I personally like to see how it will match up against Apple watch’s holistic health solutions. Apple have really done their homework on this, especially they sponsored the Lunar project in Malaysia. Where they use the Apple Watch to monitor the health of the user’s body and mind from a holistic approach.
The possibilities are endless, and I’m excited to see how this new feature will develop over time.
